The Time Machine

This project was in no way shape or form planned out, it was just something that happened in my spare time. I used some sort of neon/metallic markers and just did a bunch of designs and ended up being able to use it under the black light. It's called Time Machine and is currently being used for my fish tank background.

Surgeon General Warning

I have a dream, or a vision more really. I just want to make a whole bunch of these heads about issues or things in people's lives that affect them. This one I called Surgeon General Warning and it is supposed to show how cigarettes can become all people think about sometimes. 

I took a regular foam head as I used for the Media head and simply used gold acrylic paint to paint the bottom of the head so that it resembled a cigarette filter.

After that, I made the mask by cutting out Camel packs of cigs and gluing them to the mask, writing on the mask, painting the mask, and then gluing the mask on. 

The last to go on was the cigarettes and the feathers. The colors of the feathers are supposed to resemble ash or smoke as well as fire or the "cherry" at the end of a cigarette.

I drew both of these. Hoping to one day get one  as a tattoo.

The-dye is super fun and easy! You can buy kits at almost any craft store.

Just plain ole coloring. I keep empty canvases at my house because all my friends love to come over and doodle or do their own little crafts on them. Maybe I will do a post on all of those later. 

A Painting We Will Go

Media Head Cont.

The Mask tells all about media and the affects it has on us. The eyes are mirrors so that you can see yourself in the reflection and see those things the media has driven you towards. 

I cut out words from magazines and glues them to pipe cleaner for the hair to create the effect that it literally had media items everywhere. 

We all wear some sort "mask." This painting was to represent that. 

THINK

I saw something like this on the internet or something somewhere so I decided to try to do my own. I'm going to cut it out and put it on a red back ground I think.

Projects/In The Making

Above is what I like to call the "Media Head." I'll post a whole post about it later, but basically I am in the planning process of creating a head collection touching on social subjects. The one above is about how media affects us. The picture of the skull was a sketch I am doing to create a cutout to make another project with.

Things In Bottles

Below are a few of my newest creations. I have 30 bottles that I had nothing to do with so I thought, why not make use of them? I have started peeling off the labels and filling them with water. Once filled, I put in a high lighter (you'll see why once the project is finished), and then I picked up some of those growing toy things from the Dollar General. You know the ones? That when you put them in water they grow? Well, I guess we will see how well this one goes!

So We Get A Little Bored?

Sometimes we just need to get a little more creative ;]

On a daily basis, we consume massive amounts of RedBull which causes us to do a lot of "projects" (this blog being one of them). So one day my friend got creative and made a skate board out of out our empty cans.

Obviously I cannot do this.

This is for a current project we are about to start. We're going to film a scene for each of these with out chosen song playing. We're taking playlist to a whole new level.

DYI Video Camera Extension

Need longer arms to get that perfect shot while boarding? Well wait no more! We have a solution to your problem right here! (At least a temporary somewhat terrible one).

My friend slyly made this little contraption. She took the end off of a broom stick, poked a whole in a cigarette pack and taped the pack to the pole to have a flat "sturdy" surface that we could tape the camera to so that we could get different angles while filming. Yes, it was a good idea in retrospect, but the tape slowly became flimsy and it was difficult to keep the camera at the  angle we needed.

So after all that, we ended up going out and buying a regular camera extender thing (idk what it's called). I am super stoked to get out and use it.

DYI Sliding Gloves

Attempt #1 

My friend and I went out and picked out the gloves we wanted to use for the sliding gloves. She chose a pair of biking gloves that had added padding in the palms and thumb area (I recommend this). Next, she took a piece of PVC pipe and cut it into 4 pieces (2 for her and 2 for me) to place in the center of the glove (thats the part that will we sliding on the ground). After that, she sanded down the sharp edges, spray painted them black (to match the gloves), and then covered them in wax. After that came the hard part, gluing the PVC to the gloves. We took a mens deoderant and put it inside the glove to fill it out so that the PVC would be kept in the right place. Next we used massive amounts of Gorilla glue and whatever other adhesives we could find around the house, tied the PVC tight to the gloves and let it dry.

The gloves worked really well, but only for a few uses before the PVC came loose from the gloves. 

Attempt #2

These are my gloves that I made the exact same way and same day as my friend did above. The only thing I did different was I bought different gloves and added finger pieces to them for extra sliding. To do this, I took small round magnets that I had and melted plastic from a 2-liter bottle around them. After that I used fabric adhesive to glue them on and then hot glues them after that. On my PVC part, I used even MORE Gorilla glue than my friend and used a whole bunch of hot glue to cover the rest. The gloves may not look great, but they work amazing and have lasted me over a month.

Attempt #3

Our third attempt went about as well as out first. We think it was because we bought gloves that fit a little snug so the tension is what kept pulling the PVC off of the glove. To fix this, my friend added more Gorilla glue and a whole bunch of hot glue... then she added her own special touch...

Attempt #4

Duct tape! It really does do wonders! She put it on strip by strip and then used a blow dryer on it to melt the sticky side of the tape more into the gloves. It's worked like a charm ever since!
